"L" is for Lalaban Tayo

“L” for Lalaban tayo

With her passing, congress is expected to declare Cory Aquino a
national hero. A noble gift from the institution the former president
herself helped created.
If congressmen were only Holy, they would have declared Cory a Saint.
oOo
Direct from the US, President Arroyo went to Manila Cathedral to pay
her last respects to the woman who once asked her to resign.
Did anyone hear her say, “I am sorry.”?
oOo
Marcos kids Bongbong and Imee also attended the wake unannounced. They
were gratefully welcomed by the Aquino family.
Were they so sorry too?
oOo
Former First Lady Imelda Marcos, who held a mass for the then still
ill Cory, declared that the country will experience many miracles once
the Aquino and Marcos families are united.
It will indeed take a miracle for Arroyo to resign.
oOo
During the funeral procession from Manila to Paranaque where the
former president was finally laid to rest, presidential aspirant Mar
Roxas was inside his SUV, waving to crowds flashing the “L” sign.
“L” for “Lalaban tayo.”
oOo
In her speech, Kris Aquino hinted of plans to join politics with her
brother Noynoy. “Ipagpapatuloy natin, Noy,” she declared.
She or Noynoy could be Roxas’ runningmate.
oOo
A reunion of sorts, Cory’s funeral was reminiscent of Ninoy’s own
funeral march and the People Power Revolution combined. Politicians,
artists and church people converged once again.
Hope Cory’s spirit stays until after May 2010.

Last February, Tita Cory attended the wake for singer-actor and master
rapper Francis Magalona who died of cancer.
During Cory’s wake and interment, rains were spurred by a storm named Kiko.
