Bureau of Jail Management and Penology chief Dir. Rosendo Dial said
some 80,000 inmates from various jail facilities units nationwide can
vote in next year’s polls. The Commission on Elections already
approved of the scheme’s implementing rules and guidelines.
In the future, inmates can run for public office and many politicians
will go to jail.

Commission on Human Rights chairperson Leila De Lima claimed jailbirds
not yet convicted of their crimes still have the privilege to vote.
It’s their Constitutional right.
